You Seriously Need a Hobby

2 minutes

When was the last time you did something just for fun? Not scrolling through TikTok until your thumb hurts, not rewatching your comfort show for the third time this month, and definitely not adding things to your online cart that you’ll never actually buy. I mean something that feels like you. Something that makes you lose track of time in the best way.

Somewhere along the way, we all got caught up in the routine — wake up, work, come home, eat dinner, scroll, sleep, repeat. It’s not that anything’s wrong with that rhythm, but it can start to feel like there’s no space left for creativity or curiosity. We grow up and forget how good it feels to do something simply because it makes us happy.

For me, that’s blogging. It started as a small creative outlet and somehow turned into one of the most grounding parts of my life. Writing, styling photos, brainstorming new ideas — it’s where I get to express myself without pressure or expectation. It’s a reminder that I’m allowed to create just for the joy of it.

But your version of that might look completely different. Maybe it’s picking up a paintbrush again, baking something from scratch on a slow Sunday, or joining a dance class. It could be journaling, thrifting for hidden gems, or even starting a little “for fun” project with friends. Whatever it is, it doesn’t have to make money or look picture-perfect. It just has to make you feel good.

Having a hobby brings you back to yourself. It gives you something to look forward to after a long week and helps you connect with parts of your personality that don’t get used in your daily routine. It’s not about being the best at it — it’s about enjoying the process, the mess, the learning, and everything in between.

So consider this your reminder to find something that makes you lose track of time. Because life feels lighter, brighter, and a lot more you when you have a hobby that makes you come alive.

What’s something you’ve been wanting to try, just for fun?

Love, Laura
