Every September, fashion week rolls around and suddenly we’re being told that everything is trending. Metallic pants? Sheer dresses in 12-degree weather? A coat so oversized it could double as a sleeping bag? Love that for the runway, but not so much for my actual closet.
Fall is already the best season for getting dressed—cozy layers, rich textures, boots that make you feel like you have your life together. But instead of chasing every shiny new aesthetic TikTok throws at us, I’m focusing on the trends that actually feel wearable, chic, and worth adding to my rotation.
Here are the fall fashion trends I’m genuinely excited to wear.
Cherry Red
Red is having its main character moment. It’s everywhere—bags, shoes, sweaters, lips—and it’s one of those trends that doesn’t actually feel like a trend. Red has always been powerful, confident, and a little bit dramatic.
How I’ll wear it: probably with a cherry-red bag or kitten heel, styled against my otherwise neutral wardrobe. It’s the perfect pop of color that makes jeans and a white tee feel instantly intentional.
Preppy, but Make It Chic
The girls who always secretly wanted to be Rory Gilmore are winning right now. Preppy is back: pleated skirts, loafers, tailored blazers… but this time it’s less “private school uniform,” more “I studied abroad in Paris and now I dress like this.”
How I’ll wear it: an oversized blazer layered over a knit, loafers with chunky socks, and maybe a pleated skirt for good measure. It’s put-together without trying too hard—like you care, but you don’t care care.
Suede Everything
Fall without suede is like pumpkin spice without the latte (it just doesn’t hit the same). Suede boots, suede bags, suede jackets… it’s all giving cozy-luxe 70s energy. Even the smallest suede accessory can instantly make an outfit feel richer.
How I’ll wear it: I’ve got my eye on a chocolate brown suede shoulder bag that would pair perfectly with literally every outfit I own. And don’t even get me started on suede boots, they’re that perfect “elevated but effortless” piece.
Country Core
Before you roll your eyes, this is not yee-haw cosplay. This is countryside chic: barn jackets, quilted layers, and sleek riding boots. It’s the kind of look that makes you want to book an apple-picking date or casually stroll through a farmer’s market with a latte in hand.
How I’ll wear it: a barn jacket over a cream knit and wide-leg trousers, or jeans tucked into tall leather boots for a subtle equestrian moment. It’s functional, cozy, and a little bit romantic—basically the fall vibe in a nutshell.

The best part about fall fashion is that it doesn’t require a complete style overhaul. It’s about leaning into the textures, colors, and silhouettes that already work for you. Cherry red, preppy tailoring, suede staples, and country-core layers feel like trends I’ll actually wear—not ones I’ll regret by November.
Love, Laura
